Our "Total Solutions" philosophy means that our customers can get more innovative options, better quality and higher reliability from a single ISO 9000 Quality System vendor. Ultimately this translates into bottom line savings in both time and money, yielding "Better Value".
Employees
Our employees are the most important assets we have. They create the bond that strengthens the relationship between our customers and our Company. We involve all of our employees in personnel development programs to continually improve the company culture and processes by which our business is conducted.

Company History
DPA Components International (DPACI) is the realization of a lifelong partnership of two brothers, Douglas and Philip Young. Influenced from early on by their father, Ming, who was an electronics engineer, Douglas and Philip graduated from UCLA in the early 1970's and began their engineering careers at companies like Litton G/CSD, Hughes Radar, Northrop Electronics and Bendix Oceanics as component test and analysis engineers.
While Philip pursued a Master's Degree in Solid State Physics from USC, Douglas decided to start his own business in 1975, a recording studio that he designed, built and financed himself. Choosing to delegate the management of the studio to employees more familiar with the recording industry, Douglas continued to work as a consultant to the aerospace industry, doing testing and analysis on electronic components. As the music business began to change in 1979 with the transition from analog to the new digital audio, he decided to sell the business rather than make the investment in new equipment.
>
With the brothers joining forces again, Doug started a new engineering consulting firm, DPA Labs, Inc. (Doug, Phil and Associates) with Philip as a part time partner. The new company took off rapidly in the early 1980's due to the high demand for technical personnel in the aerospace industry. DPA Labs soon became the leading source for high level technical personnel in the Southern California area, serving all the military prime contractors.
Riding the wave of the booming aerospace business, in 1983 Douglas acquired some test equipment and asked Philip to leave his comfortable environment at Hughes and join the company fulltime. DPA Labs, the engineering firm, now included a testing and analytical laboratory servicing the high reliability electronic piece parts industry.
Leveraging their contacts from previous jobs, they began doing analytical work on components, performing a standard test called Destructive Physical Analysis (DPA) for major military programs through prime contractors. As the engineering side of the business declined with fluctuations in the aerospace industry, the testing and analytical business increased due to the outsourcing of inspection and testing by these same prime contractors. The result was a smooth and natural transition from a small engineering firm, DPA Labs, to today's world class "Total Solutions" facility for high reliability electronic piece parts, DPA Components International.
DPACI has adjusted its marketing emphasis over the years to respond to the shifts in military and aerospace spending. The Perry initiative in 1991 allowed the DOD to begin using commercial parts, causing the military budget for testing, manufacturing and analysis of piece parts to decline significantly. DPACI responded by establishing a facility for the testing of high volume commercial semiconductors and memory chips. This marketing effort laid the foundation for the Company's current international business.
Today DPACI is a key supplier of high reliability components for mission critical systems in the space program and some military programs, and it is a provider of innovative part obsolescence solutions. Focusing on the growing problem of obsolescence, the Company is designing and manufacturing hybrids and providing parts substitutions, custom packaging, upscreening and its own patent-pending DPEM (Decapsulate Plastic Encapsulated Module) process. The DPEM process offers customers the rugged packaging of ceramic or metal with the generic reliability of a die from a plastic parts manufacturer. This unique DPEM technology provides a solution that conforms to our customer requirements at a fraction of the cost and delivery time.

From the complete testing and analysis services to its state-of-the-art DPEM technology, DPA Components International continues to provide Better Value, Total Solutions™.
Vision Statement
DPACI will be a major contributor to the success of mission critical high reliability systems. We will be known as the company who provides "Better Value" by offering "Total Solutions" with integrity and commitment. |
